The Bass Highway near Devonport is among the top 10 places in Tasmania you’re more likely to have a crash, according to insurance giant AAMI.
The Decade of Driving Report, published by AAMI lists Sandy Bay Road in Hobart as the state’s most dangerous road, based on crash and insurance claims data.
The report lists the top four most dangerous roads as being in the Greater Hobart area, with Wellington Street in Launceston at number five and the Bass Highway near Devonport eighth and the only North-West site in the top 10.
The Bass Highway between Wynyard and Marrawah, traditionally a frequent crash spot, has undergone significant recent upgrades, and wasn’t listed in the top 10 this year.
AAMI says the data also showed men over the age of 65 were most likely to have a crash, with Friday afternoon statistically the most dangerous time for a crash.
